My husband and I decided on a last minute anniversary getaway last weekend. We looked up a few of our regular go-to’s and decided to do something a little different. I do a lot of work in Perth, Ontario throughout the year and knew that we could find exactly what we needed. We decided on dinner at the Stone Cellar and a night at the Best Western Plus Perth.
While we walked around that evening I got to thinking (yes I think about work while I am on an anniversary getaway), Perth has everything a couple would need to host a memorable wedding – for themselves and their guests. Just using the two spots we booked for our evening let me tell you what I envisioned.
Your guests arrive at their hotel for the weekend. They check in at the Best Western and are given the hotel amenities list. A pool, a hot tub, free wifi, free breakfast, a steam room, a spa – yup full spa. Hair, nails, massages… So after they have checked in they can really relax and enjoy the hotel. We didn’t even use the spa and just hanging out in the pool area I felt like we had really escaped.
For dinner that night your guests can stroll down the main street and choose from a variety of dinner options. Now let’s say you decide to have a special dinner for everyone who arrived early. Take them to the Stone Cellar. They have a stunning second level that you can use for a private booking. Stone walls, a fireplace. The meal was fantastic and they know how to make martinis (which is a personal requirement of mine). We were there last week so it was all done up in Christmas decor and the fireplace was on. It was seriously so cozy!
So the next day is your wedding day. You don’t even have to leave the hotel. You can head downstairs to the spa with your entourage and get all done up – nails, hair, makeup, a real shave…whatever you need. While you do that your guests are enjoying the pool and the steam room. You can have delicious food delivered from one of the many choices you have in town.
As the guests mingle around the hotel they notice the hotel starting to prep your wedding area. Now bare with me, I saw this area and my head went into overdrive on ideas I would love to pull together in this venue. Outside your guests would see sequin covered cocktail tables under the strings of lights hung over the patio. The doors opened into the reception hall showcasing the shiny black tile floor leading to the mantel on the fireplace that your designer creatively made come to life with garlands and white roses…eeee….so stunning! The tables are all set. The silverware has been polished, the wine glasses are awaiting their assignment for the night – red or white. The clear chivari chairs you’ve ordered look even better than you imagined in the space. Aaaahhh!! So amazing! The Baby Grand piano has been set up in the lobby where your pianist will play to greet your guests as they arrive.
Ok I need to stop there, I am getting too excited! If I write anymore I will be planning a stylized photo shoot there by the end of the night.
So back on track. If you are looking for a one-stop type of location for your wedding you seriously need to consider Perth, Ontario. Perth is home to several stunning wedding venues, great restaurants for your guests to enjoy between festivities, I haven’t even mentioned the park you absolutely must get married in – Stewart Park – if you don’t mind bugs and want to take a chance on weather why not have your dinner in the park too – oh boy, could you imagine! Crisp white linens lining the tables spread out under the trees where the edison lights have been hung to light your meal. Oh man! Here I go again.
