Roslyn and Yves – Ottawa Gatineau Wedding

I met Roslyn for the first time on a very snowy, cold day in a Starbucks. She didn’t say much, let me do all the talking. She said she needed some help with her wedding. All the big stuff was planned but really wanted some help tying up all the loose ends. I explained to her that we could start a few months out from the wedding and start by reviewing the contracts for everything she had confirmed so far and then from there we would know what was left to do and help her make those things happen.

I spoke with Roslyn a few more times before I finally got to him Yves. They were so cute together. And clearly so in love with each other. I listened to how they met, what they like to do together and how they hoped their day would unfold. Yves cracked jokes all night and Roslyn just quietly shook her head at him. Cuuuuute!

Their day finally came. It was an early morning departure from Kemptville, 4:00am to be exact so that we could be the first faces the bride saw when she woke up at 5:30am. I felt bad but there was a lot to get done, no time to dilly daddle. And for the bride keeping her day on schedule was the most important part of our job.

We spent most of the morning with the bride and her girls. A morning of laughs let me tell you. They started out pretty quiet but once they all really woke up the fun began. Again I got to hear all the stories about how they all met and all kinds of funny stories they reminisced about while getting ready. Hair, makeup, dresses and rockin’ shoes. The groomsmen were just as much fun.

It was a long day. I think I sat down for a total of 10 minutes when I just simply had to take some time to eat. When you are that tired and working that hard it is usually best that you don’t stop. Just keep going, just keep going… Thank goodness I had a stellar crew on site that day at the Hilton Lac Leamy, I would have been lost without them. And thank goodness the service providers we worked with that day were stellar.

So normally I try to keep my posts to just a couple of photos and a little bit of story telling but this one, I just couldn’t leave out any of these photos. The photographer, Samantha Clarke, captured the day so well that I smiled the whole way through the gallery she sent us to look at and I was able to limit it to only 30 photos but I could have easily picked about a million more to include here. So sit back and enjoy watching Roslyn and Yves’ day unfold right before your eyes.

A wedding party can make or break your day. The crew Roslyn and Yves had standing with them truly loved them and did everything they could to make sure their day was perfect. And provided a great deal of laughter for everyone involved, including us.

And I have to say, one of my favourite moments of the whole day had to be their entrance into the reception. I have never seen a wedding dance like these guys. Loved it! I think what I love the most about this moment in the day is that everyone finally gets to relax and truly enjoy the party. The formalities are all done and now all they have to do is eat and party!

I know, I know…I have a million favourite parts. Well here is another one. Roslyn and Yves had cultural dancers perform at the reception. It was such a great addition to an already great event.

I posted about this on Facebook when we were at the wedding but I loved their decor. The venue provided chair covers I had never seen before which I loved but got differing thoughts on when I posted in our Facebook page. I thought it was cool to add the texture to the chairs rather than the tables. And one question that was asked was if they were comfortable to sit on and the answer is yes they were. And the decor that The Gathering created was stunning. My favourite piece was definitely the canopy above the bride and groom. And the cake…show stopper!! The cake was made by Gateau Neo.

And finally my last favourite piece of this wedding, Roslyn and Yves. Both were such a pleasure to work with and I want to thank them for allowing us to be a part of their wedding day. We wish them all the best in their future together.
