Love is Proud – LGBTQ+ Wedding Show

Love is Proud – LGBTQ+ Wedding Show

When Julia came home from a conference and held a team meeting to talk about the inspiration and ideas she had for us to move forward on – Love is Proud was born.  From an idea on paper, to team brainstorming sessions, to our first Love is Proud Show, it was a great success!

Why was this so important to us?  We were astounded that in 2016 couples were still finding resistance to work with vendors that did not support their marriage equality beliefs.

It was apparent that we in the wedding professional community needed to “step it up” and better convey our willingness, and support of same sex marriage, that no matter your choice – love is love and we are happy to work with you.

How embarrassing to enter into a contract with a wedding professional to only learn once they met you as a couple they no longer wanted to work with you?  That should never happen.  And so our Love is Proud show was created to offer a safe forum for couples to work with the best vendors, and never have to ask is they are “ok with them”.  They could plan their dream day, no awkward moments necessary!

We couldn’t have asked for a greater turnout of vendors and attendees finding the perfect match.  The support of the greater Ottawa wedding professionals community along with the LGBTQ+ community was overwhelming.  The excitement and buzz leading up to the show, proved how ready everyone was to see this unique show come to the Ottawa area.  Thank you to everyone that came out and supported the show, we hope you all made some truly meaningful connections.

Can’t wait to see everyone at the Spring editions for 2017 in Ottawa and Kingston!

Huge thank you to the ever so fun Stacey Stewart Photography for being our official show photographer, we know you had a blast 🙂 And so did we!

Our favourite part….the after show dance party.

So we will continue to host this show as long as the community feels it is necessary, and help educate our fellow wedding professional colleagues on best practices, how to update their marketing materials and better convey that they support same sex couples in marriage!

Your next trade show can be this successful too.

Let us help you plan your next event.
