Chemistry Industry Association of Canada – Good Chemistry Conference

Chemistry Industry Association of Canada – Good Chemistry Conference

It was a pleasure for us to be able to work with the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada on their biennial conference. This national conference took place at the Hilton Lac Leamy with an off-site dinner at the Museum of History. Our responsibilities for this event included managing RFPs for the conference venue, off-site dinner venue, and photography services. We worked with our local DMO to secure transportation discounts for our attendees and provide some tourist options for delegates that chose to come to the Ottawa area early or stay late. We managed on site logistics, registration and more!

The theme for their conference this year was Good Chemistry. The conference covered a wide range of topics relating to chemistry including innovation and developments in the transportation sector, preventing catastrophic events, Canada’s role in the circular economy and so much more. The response to the conference was nothing but positive. The delegates loved the venue, the content and of course the food.

Getting to take delegates off site during a conference is so important to me. Conferences are amazing opportunities to learn and network however they are often mentally draining. Changing up the scenery can do wonders to reinvigorate the delegates.

The events we create are largely successful because of the amazing partners we get to work with. Having suppliers that we can count on make our job so easy. For this event we were blessed to be able to work with not only the teams from the Hilton and at the Museum but also our photographer, Paul Couvrette and his team, Sage Designs who did our decor for the off site dinner, and of course the amazing Kimberley Dunn who provided our dinner entertainment. I think the supplier we have worked with the longest and likely one we love the most because they are just down right awesome has to be Mastermind Events who provided us with our pipe and drape for our vendors in the exhibitor area. And last but certainly not least, the stellar team from LouLou Lounge who helped us to make sure our sponsors stood out in the best way possible.

We got to work with some new suppliers (new to us that is) this time around which is already great. And we are thrilled to tell you they were equally awesome. A big shoutout to 417 Bus Lines who provided our delegates with a VIP experience for all of our guests to all of our fun off-site locations (on top of the dinner I mentioned already we also moved some of our guests to another off site dinner and others to a tour of one of the local chemistry-related plants in the area). I personally got to ride a couple of times for a few of our off site excursions and got to know one of the drivers really well. I was so impressed with his passion for his job and what he can bring to their clients’ events.

Another great supplier we got to work with was See Our City, a tour company.  Paola was amazing to work with. We had a special request from one of sponsors for a specific tour he wanted to have as part of the conference and Paola worked with us and the sponsor to create the experience he was after.
