Corporate and Special Event Planning

You Underestimate Me

You Underestimate Me
I am getting the feeling many people underestimate me and my vision for this company. I have been having conversations with people about where we are headed and some of them looked surprised.
I am pretty sure I have talked about my vision for this company before and maybe back then it sounded too far fetched. Well guess what folks…we are on our way to making it big. It is all coming together one piece at a time and every day it is feeling more and more solid. My hard work is finally paying off. I am now working with a team of 20 women and men who are all dedicated, creative and inspiring. I have created partnerships with some of the best companies in the area to ensure that we are always providing the very best services and products. And with some additions I am about to make to the company I am pretty certain that we are about to become the most sought after event planning company between Ottawa-Kingston-Cornwall.
You know something I have realized in the last week or so…I have realized that my favorite part about this company is actually running the company. I love managing it all. I don’t want to plan every event, I don’t want to attend every event…I want to run the show. I want my hands in everything and I want to stand where I can see everything coming together one piece at a time. Since making this realization this is the most satisfied I have felt in two years.
I received a really great compliment the other day at a meeting. I was talking about my big vision for the company and the woman I was talking to was smiling at me. Not sure if she was laughing at me or doubting me I stopped talking and must have looked worried because she said “I’m smiling because you are a business woman, not a small business owner. Your vision for this company is bigger than most and you are setting yourself up so that if you are not around your company will still function. If a small business owner is away from their company it falls apart. You see the bigger picture are creating a real business.” That is the best thing anyone has ever said to me because she is exactly right. I am looking to create an empire, maybe someday a empire that spreads across the country. But dont’ worry, for right now I am ok with being the master of the empire that will take over Ottawa, Kingston, Cornwall and every small town in between.
For all of you out there who working on your own personal goals please keep this in mind. Stay focussed on your vision. You’ll know when you have the right vision because it will feel right deep down in your belly. And when people doubt you or underestimate your abilities use that as fuel to move forward. And never, never, underestimate yourself. You are capable of amazing things.
