Wedding MBA – Day 3

Wedding MBA – Day 3

Our day was jam packed with great information yesterday. We started our sessions at 8am and ended at 5pm. There was a bit of a lunch break yesterday but none of us actually took a break because the trade show opened at that time which means we devoured food and continued to work…walking, talking and thinking about how all the innovative ideas at the trade show could help us to do amazing work.

There are 2500 wedding professionals attending the conference this week and the theme of the event is game shows. Each presenter has to incorporate a game show into their presentation. The event is sponsored by all the big names in the industry including The Knot and Wedding Wire which means there is lots of free loot and fun stuff that we get to take home with us….woohoo! Of the sessions I attended yesterday I think I’d have to say my favourite speaker was BB Webb, she has such great energy and she spoke from relevant experience which made it so we could relate. BB is the owner of Carl House, a stunning venue I hope I get to some day visit.

I think I have three favourite sessions from yesterday, and favourites for three different reasons. The first one was the session done by Timothy Chi and Sonny Ganguly, the CEO and CMO of Wedding Wire. I loved their presentation because of the energy behind it, they really worked hard to create a superb presentation that made us laugh, made our jaws drop and made us question what human kind is capable of. My second favourite session was definitely the session on Same-sex marriage done by Kathryn Hamm, the Publisher of GayWeddings.com. I loved this presentation because it secured my thinking that we are the best company to handle same-sex weddings because we would handle all of the concerns just the way she said a company should. I have such an incredible team and I know that they have the upmost respect for everyone, they don’t pass judgement and in the end all they want to do is to be able to provide the perfect day for each and everyone of our clients. And the final session that I loved was the session given by Meghan Ely, President of OFD Consulting. Not only is Meghan a great speaker but she had some really great ideas on how we can expand our company during our off season.

My team is not going to be happy when I get home and give them the long list of things we need to implement over the next little while. Heehee…
