Wedding MBA – Day 1

Wedding MBA – Day 1

I love to learn and I love to invest in myself and my team. I hadn’t planned on attending any conferences this year but an opportunity presented itself and I decided to jump on it.

This week I will be in Las Vegas filling my brain with great ideas and tips and tricks that will make the ITM team the best it can be.

Yesterday was a travel day for me. I learned that I don’t like to have a late departure. I was supposed to leave Ottawa at 4:40pm but because of a delay we didn’t leave until almost an hour later. I arrived in Vegas at 12:30am our time (only 9:30pm local time) and to say I was tired is an understatement.

Because I was too tired to work during the flights I decided to do my best to relax and enjoy the scenery and the quiet. Relaxing is not one of my strengths so this took some actual effort.

On my first flight from Ottawa to Detroit I saw this spectacular view in the clouds. This photo doesn’t even do it justice. It was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen (second to the Northern Lights from a plane – a story for another day). The colours, the textures and the sheer thought of how incredible it is that we can see things like this with our own eyes was enough to bring a tear to my eyes.

Today is the first day of the Wedding MBA, Wedding Pro Convention and I am super stoked. I have three days of intense learning ahead of me. I have the schedule here with me and I can’t tell you which day or session I am most excited about because everything looks so beneficial.

If you have never attended a conference it will be interesting for you to know that what usually happens is that you have some sessions where everyone at the conference attends together. Then you have other sessions that are called “Break-out sessions” that are intended for smaller groups and each session covers a different topic so you get to choose which session you want to attend. It is great if you know exactly which one you want to attend but if there are a couple that catch your eye it is sometimes hard to choose just one. I needed some help from my team to pick a couple of mine because there are so many good ones.

Today’s sessions are specialized sessions. They have set out 4 sessions that are specific to each category of wedding vendor so I will be spending the afternoon and evening with a group of wedding planners. There will be talks given that are specific to our industry and we’ll get to mingle and learn from others whose experience is just like our own.

Be sure to check back tonight for an update on my day. I can’t wait to share tons of cool information with you this week. And even more so, I can’t wait to have our team put into action all the things I am going to learn so that we can continue to strive to be the best there is.

Have a fantastic day everyone!
