Some Thoughts on Booking your Vendors

Some Thoughts on Booking your Vendors

This includes all the people you are paying to make your wedding day happen. -wedding planner, photographer, videographer, musicians, florist, officiant, DJ, caterer, cake maker, and everyone else.

I would suggest only hiring those vendors who come recommended by a wedding planner, such as ITM, or a friend who has used their services before. This is very important as they all play key roles in your wedding day and it would be horrible for them to let you down last minute.

Do your research when looking for vendors, and donʼt always trust what you read on blogs and websites. Some people are just online trolls or had a bad wedding day and are looking for someone else to blame for their mistakes.

Also look at multiple options, donʼt just choose the first one available to you. Look at what other vendors can offer as you may be able to get a better deal or one more suitable to you by shopping around.

This can be very time consuming, which is one of the many reasons a wedding planner can not only save you time, but money as well.

ITM has a list of vendors that we have worked with on numerous occasions that we would trust to recommend to you.

It is so important to meet each vendor prior to hiring them as you really get to know a lot about someone through a face to face meeting.

Some of your vendors need to be booked way ahead of time, others not as early. Some things to factor in when figuring out how early you need to book are;

  1. the time of year you are getting married, in peak wedding season vendors will book up quickly, especially the good ones, where as getting married in March you may get your pick of the crop and not have to worry about how early to book.
  2. how particular you are about your chosen vendor, if having a specific caterer is most important to you then book them as soon as you have set a date.
  3. how much time you have to plan your wedding. Planning a wedding in two years youʼll have a lot more choices. On the flip side, some vendors give discounts to those booking last minute. For example some will give a discount if you are booking within six months, so it makes booking last minute doable but not too last minute if you arenʼt picky. Our photographer was someone whose portfolio was just outstanding. She is a relative of a friend who could vouch for her work. We have since hired her for other photo shoots and know that she will be a part of lives for a long time documenting our family history through her photography. We were so lucky to find her as she is so good at her art, and we so enjoy supporting a young woman making a living out of something she is so good at.

I hope in your search for vendors you find people and companies that you will want to use time and time again, and that youʼd recommend to other people.
Cheers to you and finding the people and companies to perfect your day.)
