I have never been a big fan of making a new year’s resolution but could never figure out why. Tonight I have finally figured it out.
So when you make a new year’s resolution you are putting pressure on yourself to do something, to accomplish something. You are starting out a new year feeling pressure to be better, to do better. That’s not the way I want to start out a new year.
Tomorrow night we will be ringing in the new year with some great friends. She sent me a message tonight and said that we are to bring with us something that represents something we want to leave behind in 2012. Brilliant!! Leaving something behind instead of carrying baggage forward with us. I love it!!
This came at the perfect time because I have been thinking all day about what change I wanted to make in my life and this is fitting because it is exactly the type of thing I need to leave behind more than it is something I need to force myself to do or to become.
If you could leave something behind in 2012 what would it be?
