Inspired By Boots and Comfort Food

There is probably only one season out of the four great seasons we get here in Canada that I am not in love with and it has to be winter. As I get older I am disliking it more and more. Perhaps this year will be different with the change in my career because I won’t be on the road as much. We are about to head into probably my favourite season, fall. I love the gorgeous weather, no bugs and that I get to wear boots. I am boot girl. Two years ago we went to Houston for a family trip and I bought myself my new favourite boots, a gorgeous pair of cowboy boots that I have lived in since then. I just had them cleaned and they are ready to make their break out of the closet.

Along with those things I love the colours and the comfort food. In my past life I was a photographer and that side of me always peeks it’s head out during this time of the year as well. Last year for Thanksgiving dinner with my in laws there was family visiting from out west. My mother in law’s house is always tight to fit us as it is so adding in some extra bodies was going to be tough so we made a last minute phone call and invited everyone to come here instead. Literally last minute, that morning. So I got to work and quickly pulled together a stunning outdoor Thanksgiving dinner setting that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

As I was researching Pinterest for another event I came across this image that inspired me for another idea for this fall. My husband I have some of the most wonderful friends. Some are firefighters like my husband, some are business friends of mine and others are friends we’ve had since we were teenagers. They are people we truly love spending time with and when provided with an opportunity to do something different they jump at the chance. In a couple of weeks we will be travelling to our family cottage where we will be spending the afternoon by the water enjoying a meal made by all of us. Soup, cheese and bread and any other comfort food they decide to bring with them. I am really hoping it cools off for that day because I really want to wear my boots and a sweater. I know, crazy, wishing cold weather on us just so I can wear a particular outfit. Well it’s not just the clothes, it’s the decor and atmosphere too. How far off the mark of my inspiration piece would I be if we were wearing bikinis and flip flops.

There are millions of amazing ways to celebrate all the seasons we have here in Canada and don’t let yourself be limited by the traditional ways. If you want to step it up this year and do something different why not invest a little in your life’s moments and talk to us about how we can help you create a moment you will never forget.

By the way these are the boots. I know, they’re awesome.
