I am good at my job; I understand the thought process behind planning an event, I am organized, I am creative and I handle stress better than many people. What I am really great at is perfecting the details.
I am currently working on an event for a client and I am having trouble finding the perfect invitations and it is driving me crazy…but in a good way. It actually excites me to be searching high and low for the perfect invitation.
When planning an event, any event…a birthday party, a conference, a festival…every last detail has to be perfect. It all has to fit together like a puzzle. Invitations, food, decor, venue…every detail.
Themed parties are easy to plan because the theme guides all the details. A themed party is also the easiest party to “ruin” because if you don’t get the details right the theme seems pointless and gets lost in “just another party”.
When I plan parties for our friends or our girls and I am stressing out over the smallest little detail, my husband often says “it doesn’t matter honey, no one will notice”. But it does matter, it matters alot. And I will notice. You know what, I know that the party won’t fall apart if the invitations are printed on blue paper instead of yellow but in my eyes, every last detail does matter. The invitations, the venue, the food, the decor, it all sets the mood of the party…it makes it all perfect.
