Hit the Road

If you have been directed here it is probably because you generously donated an unwrapped gift to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds Grenville at the TD Bank in Kemptville. First let me thank you. Having been a big sister myself I know how valuable the program is and I am so glad we are able to help.
Our gift to you for Christmas this year is our Hit the Road Date Night Kit. What is a date night kit you ask? Well, our date night kits were created to encourage couples to spend time with each other falling in love all over again. We get so caught up in every day life that we often forget to spend time reminding ourselves why we fell in love in the first place. Our Date Night Kits encourage you to step outside your comfort zone, communicate – about anything but the bills and the kids – laugh, and do something different then just going out for dinner or to a movie.
Hit the Road is just as you might suspect, a road trip. It should take the majority of the day and I would encourage you to do it during the day as opposed to in the evening. Unless you live somewhere where the sun stays up late…really late.
Get a babysitter, pack a picnic lunch, fill your tank with gas and forget about life for a few hours. What would make this date night even more enjoyable would be to do it doing the week when you are supposed to be at work. While everyone else is sitting in their little cubicle, the two of you will be hitting the road for some fun.
The kit starts out by you choosing our direction of choice – north, south, east or west. Then off you go. While you drive you talk. Not sure what you can talk about all day long? Don’t worry because we have provided you with conversation starters to keep you chatting. No matter how long you have been together I can guarantee you will learn something new about each other today.
Once you arrive at your destination you have a list of tasks you must complete. Some will take you out of your comfort zone, others will make you laugh. Either way you are doing them together and I can almost guarantee they will make you appreciate each other a little more.
Remember this is your day, don’t get too serious. Enjoy it. If you see a cute little antique shop along the way or a pretty little river you’d like to eat your lunch by then do it. Even better, if you find a secluded little area you would like to going parking in then do it.
You fell in love with your partner for a reason and with the everyday stresses of life you sometimes forget why. Take the day and remember. Hit the road and fall in love all over again.
