Sometimes in life you can’t wait for the stars to align. Sometimes you have to find that super long ladder, climb up into the sky and align those stars yourself.
On Thursday I went to deliver some linens to one of my regular clients and happened to notice a long line of cars parked outside the golf course. And jokingly said, “Why am I not planning that tournament!” I happened to pick up the program for the tournament was taking place. Thinking that over the weekend I would review the information and send my name off to the organizers to offer my services for next year.
The next day I had a meeting with someone from our municipality and she just happened mention a great contact for me. She couldn’t remember his job specifically but did know that he was somehow involved in a golf tournament that is taking place along the St. Lawrence. Ding, ding….the tournament I saw yesterday!!
On Saturday I did some research. I read through the program…cover to cover. Looked up the tournament on line and couldn’t find the name of the guy she had mentioned. But, I did find the name of the company running the tournament. I emailed the staff. Forwarded my resume and cover letter, told them a bit about myself and finished by saying that I hoped to hear from them.
7:15pm – I check my email, out of habit. OMG!!! There was an email from the CEO of the company. He asked if I would be at the tournament the next day. I of course had no plans to be there but responded with ” I can be.” He told me to meet him at noon at the registration tent.
The meeting was a success and if all goes as planned I should be hard at work on high profile golf tournament in the next few months.
Ya baby!!!!! Smiles all around…top that off with the news from today and life as an event planner is working out!
