It has been a long time since I have felt so proud that I could cry. Recently we were asked to help with an event for a local woman who is battling cancer. A group of women, her friends, came together to raise money for her children. They asked if I could help by donating to their event as well as provide them with some advice and to help them with rentals they needed for their event. We were happy to help.
On the night of the event I was blown away by what these women had managed to create. It was truly a night that made me so grateful to be a part of a small town. I watched with tears in my eyes as the guest of honour danced away the night, made her heartwrenching speech about her battle and as I watched the hands in the crowd during the live auction.
It is so easy to get caught up in everyday sorrows and difficult moments. I am so glad that every now and then I get to be a part of something truly spectacular, something that is so much bigger than me. We all need those friendly reminders of what life is really supposed to be about. And let me tell you it has nothing to do with money or fame. It is about making moments in your life worth living.
As the guest of honour so proudly stated on stage that night “Welcome to the best party of my life.”
